Follow the ‘recipe’ of toxic ingredients to create a chemical soup. Guaranteed to raise awareness amongst adults of the risk to children’s health from being exposed to the ‘soup’ of chemicals in cigarette smoke. Display comes with protective props, saucepan, labelled containers (with mock non-toxic contents) and guidelines. Purpose-made carry case included. Also works as a static display.
The Chemical Soup was developed in Wythenshawe, South Manchester by Manchester Stop Smoking Service (which transferred to Manchester Health and Social Care Trust on 1st April 2011 under TCS) and Barnardos. It was developed as part of a pilot examining the role of community participation in protecting children from breathing second hand smoke. In collaboration with GASP Smokefree Services, Chemical Soup has been developed further to make it available to others working to promote smokefree homes and cars.
Chemical Soup helps to raise the awareness amongst parents and guardians of the risk to their children’s health of exposure to the ‘soup’ of chemicals present in cigarette smoke. Chemical Soup can be used as a static display or as a dramatic, live demonstration.
